What safety measures are to be considered while operating Drill Press ?
Answer: Before connecting a drill press to a power source be sure that the voltage supply is the same as that specified on the nameplate of the tool. A power source with a voltage greater than that specified for the tool can result in serious injury to the user, as well as damage to the tool. Using a power source with a voltage less than the nameplate rating is harmful to the motor.
• When operating the drill press, use safety equipment including safety goggles or shield, ear protection and protective clothing including safety gloves.
• If the operation causes dust, use a dust mask.
• Ensure that the lighting is adequate.

• Keep the area free of tripping hazards.
• Do not let anyone under the age of 18 years operate this tool.
• Never use your hands to remove dust, chips or waste close by the drill bit.
• Rags, cloths, cord and string and the like should never be left around the work area.
• If you are interrupted when operating the drill, complete the process and switch off before looking up.
• Periodically check that all nuts, bolts and other fixings are properly tightened.
The tool must be used only for its prescribed purpose. Any use other than those mentioned in the manual will be considered a case of misuse. |
