The Delta SM300 Shopmaster Bench 1/4 Horsepower 10-Inch Drill Press appears to be a very nice drill press for the price. I have owned this model Drill press for over one year, and use it almost regularly for my workshop. It is a great drill press considering its utilization and low price. To date I haven't had any problems with the motor, or any other part of this machine for that matter. The SM300 Shopmaster 10-Inch Bench Drill Press has an induction motor for long-lasting, smooth performance while the pivoting motor mount maintains correct belt tension and facilitates speed changes.
This unit also has a standard 3-jaw, ½-inch capacity chuck for positive gripping of various drill press cutting tools. It has five speeds from 620 to 3,100 rpm. The cast iron table tilts up to 45 degrees for angled drilling and has a rack and pinion raising mechanism for easy adjustments. I would recommend this unit for anyone looking for a small inexpensive drill press.
